| SBCA Foundation Awards Grant to Tumor Research The SBCA Foundation donated $10,000 to Angels Among Us to help in the fight against brain cancer. The day raised over $2,000,000. Since its founding in 1994, over 12 million dollars has been donated to The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke from Angels Among Us. SBCA Foundation Accepting Grants SBCA members and consumer satellite industry professionals are now able to submit grant requests for charities they donate time or money to in their local communities through the SBCA Foundation. The SBCA Foundation was established in order to support the efforts of individuals and companies in the consumer-based satellite video and broadband industry who are making a contribution to improve the lives of the people in their communities. Requests will be accepted from any individual or company within the industry and the selected grants will be awarded to the non-profit organization. New Bethel Baptist Church Awarded 2012 SBCA Foundation Grant Project Graduation Awarded 2012 SBCA Foundation Grant About the SBCA FoundationThe SBCA Foundation will place emphasis on health, welfare and education projects that benefit specific communities and populations where the consumer-based satellite industry has a presence. The amount of money or goods allocated to grants will be based on need and will be implemented in areas where similar efforts are not already underway, so as to reflect the unique purpose and character of the consumer-based satellite industry. Grants will be awarded on a schedule and according to a set of guidelines to be established by the Board of the Foundation and implemented by SBCA staff. Particular emphasis will be given to projects and needs in areas of the U.S. where the satellite industry is a well known and valued service. The SBCA Foundation will rely on feedback from the network of manufacturers, distributors, instillation providers and retailers who all have a part in providing satellite services to the customer. They recognize that these businesses are important in their local communities and understand their needs best. The initial Board of Directors are Andrew Reinsdorf of DIRECTV, Jeffery Blum of DISH Network, Greg Frasca of Sky Web Digital Media, Michael Scherr of CASE-SRS Distribution, Dave Robison of DSI System, Lee. In some cases, it will be individuals in our industry who have devoted time and effort to some worthy community effort (homeless shelter, working with returning veterans, literacy, etc.) In other cases it might be an entire company that has committed to a project or mission (helping to build a house for Habitat for Humanity, rebuilding a community center destroyed by a hurricane, etc.) Grants will be made to eligible non-profit organizations on behalf of the individual and/or company involved.
