DIRECTV shows 2 NASCAR events in 4K UHD

DIRECTV featured a NASCAR Monster Energy Cup event in 4K UHD on Sunday and will feature a second race May 13 at the Go Bowling 400 at Kansas Speedway. The races are the latest moves in the company's shift toward 4K UHD sports content, which has also included MLB Network games, college football, golf, basketball and the Rio Olympics. (3/31)

Trump reverses FCC broadband privacy rules

President Donald Trump on Monday signed a resolution that reverses Federal Communications Commission broadband privacy rules that would have required ISPs to obtain permission before using customer data. Opponents, including FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn and the Federal Trade Commission's Terrell McSweeny, have expressed concerns over eliminating the rule without implementing a replacement. VisSat taps McObject tool to implement DMAS debugging system

Live TV viewing fell by four minutes in the fourth quarter -- compared with 2016's Q4 -- to four hours and 23 minutes per day, while time-shifted viewing on DVR and smartphone video viewing increased during the period, a Nielsen report states. Eighty-two percent of rural consumers subscribe to traditional video services, while just 4% get their video from the internet, per a survey commissioned by Innovative Systems.
