Apple introduces HomePod smart speaker

Apple CEO Tim Cook on Monday at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference announced the Apple HomePod, a smart speaker designed to compete with the Amazon Echo and Google Home. ViaSat has confirmed that it plans to offer "hundreds of gateways" for its upcoming ViaSat-3 satellites to ensure that they can uphold the company's 1 terabit-per-second throughput goal, per Chairman and CEO Mark Dankberg. He added that the company's research and development team has developed new gateway technology that is more economical and will help it regain the $100 million it invested in its ViaSat-1 system.
